Bethany Mahar joined Chamberlains on 27 January 2026 as part of the firm’s merger with Braye Cragg Solicitors. She brings a strong client‑centred approach and a commitment to supporting individuals navigating Family and Criminal Law matters.
Bethany is a Lawyer with a Bachelor of Business majoring in Human Resource Management, a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Diploma of Legal Practice. She was admitted as a Solicitor in both the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 2024. She is a member of the Newcastle Law Society, the New South Wales Law Society, the Hunter Valley Family Law Practitioners Association and Hunter Young Professionals.
Bethany works across Family Law and Criminal Law, assisting clients in a diverse range of matters including parenting disputes, property settlements, divorce applications and alternate dispute resolutions. Bethany’s knowledge and experience in Criminal Law provides her with a vital understanding of how Family Law and Criminal Law intercept, particularly when a party has been charged with a criminal offence.
Bethany regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Newcastle Local Court and the Newcastle District Court.
