Kayla Newell is a Senior Associate at Chamberlains Law Firm, working across the firm’s Insolvency & Restructuring, Corporate & Commercial, and Strategic Advisory teams. Since her admission in 2015, Kayla has built a strong reputation for her technical capability and commercial acumen, particularly in complex corporate transactions, business structuring, and strategic advisory matters.

Kayla regularly advises on a range of corporate, commercial, and transactional matters, including acquisitions and sales of companies and businesses, corporate structuring and succession planning, corporate governance, and negotiating commercial transactions and contracts. Her ability to apply her expertise and strategic acumen across multiple legal practice areas allows her to seamlessly deliver holistic legal advice and commercially sound solutions that align with her clients’ broader objectives.

Known for her collaborative approach, Kayla works closely with colleagues across the firm, and other professional advisers to ensure clients benefit from integrated, multidisciplinary advice. Her ability to navigate complex legal and commercial landscapes with clarity and precision, and provide clear, concise and pragmatic advice, assists in supporting clients in achieving successful outcomes.

Kayla holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Wollongong and a Master of Legal Practice from the Australian National University. In 2024, she completed a Master of Laws (Applied Law) majoring in Business Law and Transactions, further deepening her expertise in the corporate and business advisory and transactional space.

Outside of her legal practice, Kayla enjoys exploring fine dining establishments, where she thoughtfully pairs her favourite champagne with at least a dozen oysters, or you’ll otherwise find her on weekends, sourcing great coffee and watching the AFL.
