Dimarco strengthens our commitment to the Newcastle and Hunter region by expanding our service offering for our clients in Newcastle by bringing on a wealth of experience and growing expertise in areas such as Corporate & Commercial and Property Law, as well as her diverse legal experience in niche areas including commercial, property, not for profit, charity, litigation, dispute resolution, and water law. Before her appointment with Chamberlains Law Firm on 8 July 2024, she was a Partner at a national law firm and a Director of two boutique law firms, Dimarco Law and Dimarco Garland. She was also involved in the harness racing industry as a former Director on the Harness Racing NSW board. As a founder and previous Director of Dimarco Garland, her experience as a leader in her field opens new doors for our clients in Newcastle. Marissa Dimarco is a seasoned Corporate and Commercial Lawyer with extensive litigation and dispute resolution experience, highlighted by her appearances in various court jurisdictions, including the High Court of Australia, and in multiple tribunals. She has extensive experience in various legal fields including commercial contract drafting and negotiation, privacy law, technology law, franchising, joint ventures, business and share sales, acquisitions, and corporate governance. Her background in commercial property law has established her as a leader in coordinating large property teams and handling significant strata, industrial, and residential subdivisions. Marissa Dimarco’s legal expertise also covers niche areas such as water law under the Water Act (NSW) 1912 and the Water Management Act (NSW) 2000.
Outside of her professional life, Marissa Dimarco enjoys spending time with her horses and dogs on her hobby farm, participating in boxing sessions at the local gym, and spending quality time with family and friends.
With over 18 years of post-admission experience, Marissa Dimarco has excelled in commercial, corporate, and property law, as well as litigation and dispute resolution. Dimarco has appeared in all court jurisdictions, including the High Court of Australia, and various tribunals such as the Consumer, Trader & Tenancy Tribunal. She has also been involved in conducting the commercial and regulatory functions of the harness racing industry in NSW. Marissa is known for providing clear, business-oriented legal advice and understanding her clients’ businesses to help them achieve their goals.
Marissa Dimarco has served as a Notary Public and held notable positions such as Director on the Harness Racing NSW board, member of the advisory board of Hunter Export Centre, and winner of the Hunter Business Chamber’s ‘Young Achiever of the Year Award’ in 2009.
In 2021, Marissa founded Dimarco Commercial Lawyers after a successful tenure as a Partner in a national law firm and as a Solicitor Director in a boutique commercial Newcastle-based law firm. Her firm, Dimarco Garland Lawyers, provided services in Commercial & Corporate Law, Property Law, Employment Law, Wills & Estate Planning, and Dispute Resolution, representing clients across Australia. Marissa’s extensive property law practice included working with a diverse range of clients and offering legal advice on property law requirements for not-for-profit and charity organisations.
Marissa Dimarco, with her diverse legal experience, has worked with clients in specialised industries including Construction, Mining, and Manufacturing, and regularly acts for Mining support businesses. Dimarco also has significant experience assisting not-for-profit and charity organisations with their corporate, commercial, and property law needs.
Marissa Dimarco now brings her extensive experience to Chamberlains Law Firm, continuing to serve clients across multiple Australian jurisdictions and specialising in niche areas of law. As a Partner in a national law firm running a Corporate/Commercial and Property Law practice, her appointment as Director seeks to enhance our firm’s presence and brand in Newcastle and the Hunter regions.
